The Austrian Society for Tropical Medicine
The Austrian Society for Tropical Medicine, Parasitology and Migrant Health (die Österreichische Gesellschaft für Tropenmedizin, Parasitologie und Migrationsmedizin) was founded in 1967 in Vienna.
The society is closely linked to the Hygiene Institute (Hygiene-Institut der Universität Wien) and has the aim to bring scientists and practitioners together in a multidisciplinary way. In 1981 the name of the society was changed to also include the parasitology domain. In 2012 migrant health was added to also reflect the interest in migrant health. Members of the society work in the domain of Humanmedizin, Veterinärmedizin, Naturwissenschaft sowie der medizinisch-technischen Assistenz.
