European Development Days

Europe’s leading forum on development since 2006

Organised by the European Commission, the European Development Days (EDD) bring the development community together each year to share ideas and experiences in ways that inspire new partnerships and innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges.

Themes and Topics

For its fourteenth edition, the EDD will be built around “The Green Deal for a Sustainable Future”. The interdependence of humans and nature lies at the core of sustainable development.

Biodiversity and resilient ecosystems are crucial for the human well-being, as they support livelihoods, enhance food and nutrition security, enable access to water and health and contribute significantly to climate change mitigation and adaptation. Therefore, activities aimed at ensuring a sustainable green transition and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals are crucial for maintaining and improving the health of our planet, while at the same time contributing to socio-economic development.

The EDD 2020 agenda will be framed by two major themes emerging as key priorities in today’s current context: A Green Economy for Nature and People and Protecting Biodiversity and People.
